Looking for a Pediatric Dentist in Las Vegas? Look no further!

Parents don’t always know the right time to bring their children into the dentist. When is too soon? Dr. Carla LaLande, pediatric dentist Las Vegas, suggests that you bring in your child in within 6 months of the first tooth’s eruption, or no later than one year of age, whichever happens first. A professional childrens dentist Las Vegas knows that the first dental visit will involve familiarizing your child with the dental instruments in a fun way. Afterwards, Dr. LaLande examines the child’s mouth for any signs of decay. She also examines tooth development, detects any irregular facial development, and demonstrates appropriate dental hygiene form. If the child is willing to cooperate, a few X-rays may be taken to identify any possible tooth decay.

At the same time it is important to teach your children to brush their teeth, starting from this early age. It is best for them to brush at least two times a day, after breakfast, and before bedtime. For your younger children, make sure to brush their teeth with a pea-sized amount of toothpaste, until they can begin to brush their own teeth. As your children begin to become more and more independent, make sure to keep an eye on their brushing habits, because if you don’t, they may simply stop. You may want to brush your teeth with them, so that they get used to brushing on their own, twice a day. Dr. LaLande, pediatric dentist Las Vegas, suggests you find toothpaste that has been approved by the American Dental Association. This way you can be sure that the health of your children’s teeth has been rigorously tested. Be sure to also purchase an appropriately sized toothbrush for your children, the smaller the better.  Dr. LaLande has extensive experience as a childrens dentist Las Vegas and wants you to remember to teach your children to brush in a circular motion, which helps prevent excessive wear on the enamel at the gum line.

At approximately three years old, you should let your children brush their own teeth while you supervise. Make sure to also floss their teeth as they get older and the teeth begin to move closer together. Also, be absolutely sure that your children are not swallowing the toothpaste and are rinsing properly.
